4.2.13 Connecting to the base module
Installing the USB drivers
The first time a PSRmodular base module is connected to the configuration PC, the “Found
New Hardware Wizard” appears. To install the drivers, proceed as follows:
1. In response to the “Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?”
prompt, select “No, not this time”.
2. Now follow the steps for installing the USB drivers for the PSRmodular system: confirm
with “Next”.
a) When the “Would you like to install this device software?” prompt appears, trust the
software manufacturer by clicking the “Install” button.
3. In the “Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard” window, complete the process by
clicking the “Finish” button.
If the USB drivers have already been installed, the appropriately configured PC automati-
cally detects the safety module when the USB connecting cable is connected.
If the PSRmodular Software has already been started, the software will detect the status of
the safety module and display this in the status bar at the bottom right of the screen.

module already contains a configuration project)
NOTE:
The calculation results for the PL and other parameters in relation to standard
EN ISO 13849-1 apply exclusively to the functions implemented by the configuration soft-
ware and it is assumed that the configuration has been performed correctly.
To determine the effective PL for the entire application and the associated parameters,
the data from all devices connected to the PSRmodular system must be taken into con-
sideration.
This task is the sole responsibility of the user/integrator of the system.
Before connecting the base module to the configuration PC, install the PSRmodular Soft-
ware on the configuration PC with the appropriate USB drivers for the module.
