Use Service Diagnostics to test the following
parts within the Registration Chute Assembly:
Registration Sensor (PL9.1.8)
OHP Sensor (PL9.1.12)
Registration Clutch (PL9.1.6)
Replace any defective parts.
Does the problem persist?
Go to Step 3. Complete.

Replace the Registration Chute Assembly
(page 8-71).
Does the problem persist?
See Jam at
Registration
Roller
(page 3-28).
Complete.

Check for paper jammed in the Registration
Chute Assembly.
Does the leading edge extend up to the Fuser
entrance?
Go to Step 5. Go to Step 8.

Turn the printer’s power switch Off and allow
the Fuser to cool completely.
Remove the Fuser (page 8-5) and check for
damage, wear, or debris.
Is the Fuser damaged or contain debris?
Repalce the
Fuser, or clean if
necessary.
Go to Step 6.

Reinstall the Fuser making sure both the left
and right amber gold Fuser Locks are in the
forward (slide towards the rear of the printer)
locked position.
Turn the power switch On.
Does the problem persist?
See Jam at
Registration
Roller
(page 3-28).
Complete.

Listen for a “Fuser stall,” which is a
momentary, abnormal squealing noise
immediately followed by a “Jam at
Registration” message. This usually occurs
when the printer is exiting Power Saver mode
and the Fuser is cold.
Does a Fuser stall condition exist?
Go to Step 8. Go to Step 11
