3.11 Braking Resistor
YASKAWA TM.V1000.01 V1000 Drive Installation & Start-Up Manual (Preliminary 01-19-07) 93
Electrical Installation
3
Adjustments
8. All Drives: Set parameter L3-04 = “0” or “3” to disable stall prevention
during deceleration.
Note: Set parameter L8-01= “1” to enable overheat protection when using an optional
Yaskawa heatsink mounted braking resistor. Set L8-01 = “0” for other braking
resistor types. The motor will not stop within the designated deceleration time
without these parameter settings. When using a braking resistor and the drive is
required to decelerate according to the specified deceleration time, set parameter
L3-04 = “0” to disable the overvoltage suppression normally overriding the set
deceleration time. Set parameter L3-04 = “3” for the shortest possible deceleration
time. The deceleration time will be disregarded and a minimum deceleration time
will be generated.

Operation Check
9. Operate the system and verify the required deceleration rate is obtained
during dynamic braking or stopping.
Parameter Settings
L8-01: Internal Dynamic Braking Resistor Protection
selection
0: Disabled. The drive will not provide overheat
protection. Supply a separate means of resistor overheat
protection.
1: Enabled. Braking Resistor is protected from overheat.
L3-04: Stall Prevention During Deceleration
<1>
<1> Select either 0 or 3.
0: Stall prevention disabled.
3: Stall prevention enabled with a braking resistor
