Inner Barrier
The inner barrier consists of two assemblies which when open allow X-rays within
the entire main cabinet. When the inner barrier is closed, X-rays are limited to
within the X-ray tower only.
The inner barrier assemblies are mounted on bracket just below the top of the main
cabinet and can be removed for repairs. This requires removing four pieces of lead
shielding within the X-ray tower then removing four bolts. Figure 6-4 shows the
order the X-ray tower shielding should be removed from the tower. These pieces
are replaced in the opposite order. The shielding is held in place by five screws
(four one inch, and one quarter inch screw which goes in the location indicated by
the arrow.)
