Rotary Scintillator Reference Home Position
The Rotary Scintillator Reference Home Position is a reference position used for
synchronizing the deflection of the Electron Beam to the rotation of the Rotary
Scintillator. The Scintillator Home Optical Sensor detects the Scintillator Home
Flag attached to the Rotary Scintillator Assembly, this indicates that the Rotary
Scintillator Assembly is at the Reference Home position. The True Home position
is when the Rotary Scintillator Assembly is perpendicular to the front of the 5DX
System and the Scintillator is pointing towards the back of the 5DX System.
The offset calibration data required to initialize the Rotary Scintillator to the True
Home position is contained in the AUTOCAL.DAT file. This data is used to
interpolate the offset adjustment according to the derived differential count. Once
the True Home position is reached, the memory address counter in the X-ray Scan
Controller is reset or initialized.
The X-ray Scan Controller resets immediately upon detecting the first Z-Pulse
following the Scintillator Home Pulse. This is where the counter starts and from
there the offset calibration is calculated by the following formula:
True Home = Reference Home + Next Z + # of Counts to True Home

Interface Card
The Interface Card is installed in the Expansion Chassis. The Interface Card
provides interface connections between the The person responsible for the day-to-
day tasks of keeping the 5DX software running efficiently. Their responsibilities
include: controlling software updates, adding and removing users, managing
system security, archiving and backup, configuring the 5DX, and recovering from
an Emergency Stop., X-ray Image Camera and the X-ray Scan Controller. The
Interface Card performs the following functions:
• Loading Fields of View — The System Controller runs the panel program for
the panel under test. The System Controller retrieves the appropriate look-up
table information for the specific FOV and writes this information into the
appropriate bank of the X-ray Scan Controller, through the Interface Card.
• X-ray Image Camera External Trigger — During a Frame Acquisition
Cycle the Interface Card provides the External Trigger signal required for the
X-ray Image Camera.
• X-ray Scan Controller Bank Select — The System Controller writes the
binary value of the X-ray Scan Controller bank to be selected (0-3) to the
Interface Card.
