Agilent 5DX Service Guide 8-25
5DX Series 3 Imaging Subsystem Components
Frame Grabbers
There are two Frame Grabber cards installed in the 5DX. The main board is the
same; however, the piggy-back boards are different. The piggy-back board
determines the Frame Grabber functions.
• Analog Frame Grabber — The Panel View Camera and the Laser Camera(s)
output analog images. The Analog Frame Grabber takes these analog output
signals and converts them into digital data that can be sent to the System
Controller.
• Digital Frame Grabber — The X-ray Image Camera outputs digital images.
The Digital Frame Grabber has enough memory to hold only one Slice image.
The Digital Frame Grabber takes the slice image and holds it until the System
Controller can read it.
There are look-up tables on the Frame Grabbers that are used for holding
information about the camera settings. This information is written to the Frame
Grabbers during the FG Confirmation and Adjustment process. Besides
information for the camera, the Frame Grabbers also contain information for
manipulating the data.
X-ray Image Camera
The X-ray Image Camera acquires the Slice image data for the The person
responsible for the day-to-day tasks of keeping the 5DX software running
efficiently. Their responsibilities include: controlling software updates, adding and
removing users, managing system security, archiving and backup, configuring the
5DX, and recovering from an Emergency Stop.’s processors to analyze. The lens
of the X-ray Image Camera faces up towards the Rotary Scintillator as shown in
Figure 8-2 on page 8-5.
