8-26 Imaging Subsystem
Imaging Subsystem Components 5DX Series 3
The X-ray Image Camera contains a high resolution charge coupled device, along
with and internal amplifier and an A/D converter. The image area is a square 2048
pixels by 2048 pixels wide. The X-ray Image Camera’s two binning modes are
shown in Figure 8-14. The two binning modes are:
• 2 x 2 binning — Averages an area that is two pixels wide by two pixels high.
This results in the image area being represented as a square 1024 pixels by
1024 pixels.
• 4 x 4 binning — Averages an area that is four pixels wide by four pixels high.
This results in the image area being represented as a square 512 pixels by 512
pixels.
Figure 8-14: Binning
Pixel
2 x 2 binning
4 x 4 binning
In 4x4 Binning Mode = 512 Horizontal Pixels
In 2x2 Binning Mode = 1024 Horizontal Pixels
Total Image Area = 2048 Horizontal Pixels
In 4x4 Binning Mode = 512 Vertical Pixels
In 2x2 Binning Mode = 1024 Vertical Pixels
Total Image Area = 2048 Vertical Pixels
