Agilent 5DX Service Guide 5-29
5DX Series 3 Motion Control Assembly
Motion Control Diagnostic Access Module
The Motion Control Diagnostic Access Module provides test points for the various
power supply voltages and diagnostic light emitting diodes (LEDs) to indicate the
status of various signals. The LED colors symbolize:
• Red - off under normal conditions and indicating an unexpected state
• Yellow - varies, on or off under normal conditions indicating a controlled event
• Green - on under normal conditions indicating power is supplied
Refer to Figure 5-17 for the positioning of the diagnostic LEDs and the test points.
A Service Key connector is on one end of the Diagnostic Access Module. The
Service Key is designed to allow you to visually inspect the stage while it is
moving. This can be helpful for diagnosing a problem. When the Service Key is
connected, it overrides either the Motion Enable functionality or the Motion
Enable Control. The particular level of override is selectable by a button on the
key.
• When the Motion Enable functionality is overridden, servomotors will not be
disabled when the access panels are opened.
• When the Motion Enable Control is overridden, servomotors will not be
disabled for any of the faults monitored by the Motion Enable Control. For
more information about the Motion Enable Control see Motion Controller
PCI Cards on page 5-38.
The safety interlocks that disable X-rays are not affected by either of the above
override levels. X-rays will always be disabled in the event of an open access panel
or a system fault.
WA R N I NG Do not place your hands or arms inside the main cabinet of the 5DX while
the Service Key is installed. Serious damage could occur due to the moving
parts.
Tools should not be placed in or on top of the 5DX while the Service Key is
installed. Damage to the 5DX could occur due to tools coming in contact
with moving parts.
