5DX Series 3 Main Cabinet Maintenance
Lubricate the XYZ Stage Lead Screws and Rails
Maintenance Frequency: Monthly
Estimated Time: Forty-five minutes
Required Items:
• Lubrication Grease (6040-0930)
• Grease Gun
• Clean, lint-free and non-abrasive cleaning wipes.
• Acid Brush or equivalent
• Mineral Oil or Light Machine Oil
• Vacuum Cleaner
Prerequisite:
• Extend the Z-Axis to the fully upward position. This is accomplished by using
the axis control screen from the System Controller.
• Shutdown the 5DX System. Follow the Long Term Shutdown For the
Agilent 5DX System procedure in Chapter 4, Power Subsystem to ensure
you shut it down correctly.
• Perform Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedure. See page 4-4 of Chapter 4, Power
Subsystem for more information.
Special Notes:
Caution
Insufficient lubrication, as well as excessive lubrication on the lead screws may
cause degradation of axes performance, and cause a change in the axes
tuning.
Caution
Do not use WD-40 oil on the lead screws. This oil acts as a cleaner and will
remove the grease. Without the grease, the lead screws may seize and result in
damage to the system.
