Motion Control Assembly 5DX Series 3
Motion Enable Control
The Motion Enable Control utilizes the Motor Relay Control portion of the Motor
Relay Control/Stepper Module in the Motion Control Assembly. The Motion
Enable Control monitors various motion critical components of the 5DX, and it
has the ability to enable and disable the associated hardware as necessary. The
following components are monitored by the Motion Enable Control:
• X, Y1, Y2, and Rotary Servo Modules - Power and Fault States
• Motion Controller PCI 1 and 2 - Power and Fault States
• Motion Enable Circuit
• Safety Interlock Chain 1 and 2
• Emergency Stop Button - Usage
• Main Controller - Communication with
In the event that a problem is detected, a detailed software message will display on
the 5DX monitor. The Servo Modules are placed in a disabled state and the
individual motor relays physically disconnect power to the Servomotor from the
associated Servo Module until the source of the problem is resolved.
The current state of the components monitored by the Motion Enable Control is
available through the Hardware Status and Control software. To view the current
state, select Panel Handling > Hardware Control from the Service menu.
Select the Fault Sensors tab. The current state information is also available from
the Motor Relay Control Diagnostic LEDs on the Motor Relay Control/Stepper
Module.
