5DX Series 3 Expansion Chassis
The System Controller contains the following cards:
• Video — Provides the signals for the monitor.
• Network — Provides the interface between the 5DX System and factory Local
Area Networks (LANs). The Agilent supported network protocols are NetBUI
and TCP-IP. The 5DX System is set up to run NetBUI.
• Transmitter — Works in conjunction with the Receiver in the Expansion
Chassis as ISA/PCI bus expansion.
The USB (universal system bus) provides four COM ports for the 5DX System
via a multiplex module in the rear of the electronics bay.
Expansion Chassis
The Expansion Chassis provides additional I/O capabilities and houses the
interfaces for various components in the 5DX system. It contains the following:
• Digital Frame Grabbers (2) — A complete discussion of the Digital Frame
Grabbers are in the Imaging Subsystem chapter of the HP 5DX Series II
Service Guide.
• Analog Frame Grabber — A complete discussion of the Analog Frame
Grabber is in the Imaging Subsystem chapter of the HP 5DX Series II Service
Guide.
• Motion Controller PCI #1 — A complete discussion of Motion Controller #1 is
provided in the Panel Handling Subsystem chapter of the 5DX Service Guide.
• Motion Controller PCI #2 — A complete discussion of Motion Controller #2 is
provided in the Panel Handling Subsystem chapter of the 5DX Service Guide.
• Receiver — Works in conjunction with the Transmitter in the System
Controller as ISA/PCI bus expansion.
• Modem — Provides interconnection to telephone lines for remote diagnostics.
• Interface — A complete discussion of the Interface Card is provided in the
Imaging Subsystem chapter of the 5DX Service Guide.
Caution The Expansion Chassis slides out the front of the Electronics Bay on a tray.
Do Not attempt to move the Electronics Bay while this tray is out.
