Overview
The Electronics Bay contains the 5DX System Controller and the Expansion
Chassis. These two components interact and provide the signals for operating the
5DX System.
The System Controller receives its ac power from the Expansion Chassis.
Powering on the Expansion Chassis will power on the System Controller. This is
done to establish the proper communications between the Transmitter and
Receiver cards.
System Controller
The System Controller is a dual processor computer that provides the XYZ Stage
Assembly move trajectories, and enables image generation, acquisition and
analysis. The 5DX System processing flow is both interrupt-driven and
asynchronous. This means the system and its related subsystems operate
independently, only communicating with the System Controller as new
information is received or control acknowledgments are required.
The System Controller also runs the panel programs. The panel program contains
the information for moving the panel on the XYZ Stage Assembly. The System
Controller also handles all of the Image Analysis processes.
The operating system for the System Controller is Microsoft® Windows NT® 4.0
Workstation.
127( The System Controller slides out the left side of the Electronics Bay. To do this,
the left side cover of the Electronics Bay will need to be removed.
Caution The System Controller slides out the left side of the Electronics Bay on a tray.
Do Not attempt to move the Electronics Bay while this tray is out.
