15.6 Cleaning the cooling pump
What can happen?
Due to crystallization inside the pump, the rotor can be jam med . This crystallization can be ea sily rem oved and the pump can be
reused again. In most cases it will be sufficient to clean the pump instead of rep lacing it with a new one. However, note that the
bearings of the pump are subject to wear. Because of that the com plete pump (pump house included) has to be replaced ev ery 4
years.
This procedure assumes that the Light Processor is removed from the projector (see chapter “Light p
rocessor
removal) and that the liquid cooling circuit” is drained (see “Draining the liquid cooling circuit”).
Necessary tools
• PH2 Phillips s crewdr iver.
•Softcloths.
• Cotton swabs (Q-tips, ear buds).
How to clean
1. R emov e the four screws (reference 1) which fasten the pump house to the pum p motor.

2. S lide the pump hous e with hose back wards. Use a cloth to absorb the rema ining cooling liquid.

3. Take the rotor between thumb and finger and slide it out of the pump motor.
