11.9 The operating logic in Gate/Barrier configuration
11.9.1 Gate operating modes
The gate, which is connected to the controller, can operate in one of the following two modes:
Normal mode. In this mode, the gate is normally closed. When reading a key with
the pass permission, the gate is getting open for a certain time (see Sec. 15
Appendix 3. The controller numeric configuration parameters, D0015 parameter).
After the vehicle passage is completed, the gate is closed immediately. Processing
of the vehicle passage authorized from the control panel is performed likewise.
Blocked mode. In this mode, the gate cannot be open by keys. In this mode, the
gate can be open only by pushing a button on the gate control panel. Switching the
gate to this mode can be performed only by the system operator (from the system
client PC).
The gate is closing, if all connected vehicle presence sensors are inactive. If at least one of them is
activated, the gate will immediately stop and then start opening after a certain time (see Sec. 15
Appendix 3. The controller numeric configuration parameters, D0014 parameter).
Working with the gate drive is performed directly or through a third-party controller.
11.9.2 Direct control of the gate drive
When in direct control of the gate drive, the following conditions are met:
1. When the gate wings are in one of their end positions, the drive motors are stopped.
2. When you need to start the gate travel, the motors turn on in the appropriate
direction one by one, with a delay for the correct travelling of overlapping wings. The
order, in which motors turn on, is opposite to travelling in opening and closing
directions. At the beginning of the gate travel in the opening direction, the drive
motor of the first wing will start.
3. When you need to stop the gate wing travel, the motors are stopped simultaneously.
4. When you need to start the gate wing travel in the direction opposite to that, in which
they are already moving, the motors stop and then turn on alternately after a short
delay to provide the gate travel in the opposite direction.
11.9.3 Controlling a third-party gate controller
Controlling a third-party controller is performed via two or three control lines depending on the
unit construction. The controller sends pulse commands OPEN/CLOSE/STOP or START/STOP to
these lines.
The control logic is specified by access point settings in the Castle control program.
After sending OPEN or CLOSE command, the controller defines the gate wing position according to
the time of gate wing travel specified in the controller settings (see Sec. 15 Appendix 3. The
controller numeric configuration parameters, D0012 parameter). It also has the ability to obtain
additional information about end positions of the gate wings, if you connect limit switches built-in
in the drive or additionally installed.
