3 Hardware options
The device can display measurements derived from the CO
2
sensor in the form of numeric values, waveforms, trends, and
loops.
The waveform is a valuable clinical tool used to assess patient
airway integrity and proper endotracheal (ET) tube placement.
The CO
2
sensor can be easily transferred from one ventilator to
another.
3.1.2.2 Connecting the CO
2
mainstream sensor
To set up the device for CO
2
mainstream monitoring, use these
steps:
1. Plug the sensor cable into the CO
2
module connector
(Figure 3-2), observing the orientation of the indexing
guides on the connector body. The cable will snap into
place.
2. Attach the airway adapter to the CO
2
sensor:
A.Verify that the adapter windows are clean and dry. Clean
or replace the adapter when required.
B.Align the arrow on the bottom of the adapter with the
arrow on the bottom of the sensor.
