F Pulse oximetry
• Before monitoring SpO
2
through the SpO
2
adapter, confirm that the operator’s manual of
the instrument to which the SpO
2
adapter is
connected allows the use of the SpO
2
adapter.
The safety of the attachment section (including
the SpO
2
adapter and the sensor) depends on
the specifications of the connected instrument.
If the SpO
2
adapter is used with an instrument
or SpO
2
sensor other than those specified, the
patient and operator can get an electrical shock
and the SpO
2
adapter can become hot.
• If the attachment site is unclean, clean the
attachment site before attaching the sensor.
If there is nail polish on the attachment site,
remove the polish. Otherwise, the amount of
transmitted light decreases, and measured
value can be incorrect or measurement unable
to be performed.
• DO NOT permit the operation of mobile
phones, small wireless devices and other
devices that produce strong electromagnetic
interference around a patient, except for
devices allowed by the hospital administrator.
Radio waves from devices such as mobile
phones or small wireless devices can cause the
display of incorrect data.
• Keep the patient away from the cable as much
as possible. If the cable coils around the patient
by their body movement, the patient can get
injured. If this happens, remove the cable
promptly.
• DO NOT use SpO
2
measurement and PEEP/
Oxygen adjustment with patients suffering
from carbon monoxide intoxication
