If the page has a print of an arrow and a sheet with a prohibition sign, then the test fails. Possible causes
are:
• Bad RFID media
• RFID UHF option failure
Try the test again with a new piece of RFID media. If the test fails again, then replace the RFID UHF option.
If the page is without an arrow but has a print of a sheet with a prohibition sign, then the test also fails. This
is an indication that the RFID tag could not be read because the RFID sheet printed in
step 2 on page 240
was not reloaded (or reloaded incorrectly). Try the test again with a new piece of RFID media, and make
sure that the sheet printed in
step 2 on page 240 is reloaded into Tray 2 for another test.
6 Load plain media in Tray 2, and then press Continue.
A test page is printed.
7 Check the test page to determine whether the test has passed or failed.
If the page has a sheet with a prohibition sign that appears both at the middle and bottom, then the test has
passed and the RFID Option test is complete. The RFID firmware and hardware are working properly.
8 If the page has only one sheet with a prohibition sign that appears at the middle, then the test fails.
This is an indication that the printer was able to read an RFID tag when it was not supposed to. Possible
causes are:
• RFID media was printed instead of plain media
• A separate RFID tag may be placed in close proximity to the RFID option
• RFID UHF option failure
Try the test again, and make sure that plain media is used for
step 6 on page 241. If the test fails again,
inspect the printer to make sure there are no RFID option. For example, if an RFID tag was applied to the
printer front cover itself, this tag may be causing problems with the RFID reader. If no problems found, replace
the RFID UHF option.
DUPLEX TESTS
Quick Test
This test determines whether the top margin at the back of a duplexed page is set correctly. This prints a
duplexed version of the Quick test page that can be used to adjust the duplex top margin. Use either Letter or
A4 paper.
1 From the Diagnostics menu, navigate to DUPLEX TESTS > Quick Test.
2 Select one of the following:
• Single—Prints a single quick test page.
• Continuous—Continuously prints the quick test pages until the Stop button is pressed.
The printer attempts to print the quick test page from the default paper source. If the default paper source
supports only envelopes, then the page is printed from Tray 1.
