3.16 Checking Traction Drive
CAUTION
Check to be s ure all bystand e rs have cleare d the area.
1. Move the ground speed lever (GSL) (A) out of
N-DETENT and slowly move the GSL forwards.
Ensure the wheels are rotating in the forward direction
and at the same speed.
2. Turn the steering wheel and observe the motion
of the drive wheels. Ensure the wheels rotate at
different speeds with the slower rotating wheel on the
same side of the machine that the s teering wheel is
turned towards.
3. Turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction and
ensure the slower rotating wheel is on the same side of
the machine that the steering wheel is turned towards.
4. Move the GSL backwards into reverse. Ensure the
wheels are rotating in the reverse direction and at the
same speed.
5. Move the GSL forwards into N-DETENT and shut down
the e ngine.
