SMEMA Transfer
A. SMEMA Handshaking with Upstream Machine
1. When the dispensing system is ready to accept a board, it outputs a SMEMA signal
to the upstream machine requesting a board.
2. The upstream machine receives the signal as an input.
3. If the machine is ready to send a board, it responds with an output signal back to
the dispensing system, which receives the signal as an input.
4. In order for the board to transfer from upstream to downstream, both pairs of
inputs and outputs must be true.
5. If one is false or missing, no transfer will occur.
6. When the dispensing system is ready to accept a board and SMEMA handshaking is
complete, the pneumatic solenoid for the pre-dispense zone stop pin is activated
and the stop pin raises.
B. SMEMA Handshaking with Downstream Machine
1. When the dispensing pattern is complete, the dispensing system outputs a SMEMA
signal to the downstream machine indicating that a board is ready.
2. The downstream machine receives the signal as an input.
3. If the downstream machine is ready to receive the board, it responds with an
output signal back to the dispensing system, which receives the signal as an input.
4. In order for the board to transfer from upstream to downstream, both pairs of
inputs and outputs must be true.
5. If one is false or missing, no transfer will occur.
