Cleaning the DJ-2000
18. If adhesive appears on the needle within 0.25 mm (0.1in.) of the upper body, place the o-
ring removal tool in the center of the U-cup seal, and lift it out.
 Inspect the needle for excessive wear. Discard the U-cup seal, and obtain a new one
if necessary. When you replace the needle, you must replace the extension as well.
19. Use the spanner wrench to loosen and remove the syringe luer lock from the lower body.
20. Use a 0.050-inch hex key or small spanner wrench to remove the purge screw from the
lower body.
21. Wipe the purge screw with a Kimwipe tissue dipped in solvent.
22. Use a cotton swab to push excess fluid out through the ports of the extension, lower
body, and syringe luer lock.
23. It may be helpful to plug the syringe luer lock hole during this step to force all of the fluid
out of the inner port located next to the seal.
24. If fluid has entered the upper body, clean it with a cotton swab dipped in solvent.
25. Submerge the extension, lower body, and syringe luer lock in a solvent bath.
26. If an ultrasonic bath is available, submerge the extension, lower body, and syringe luer
lock in it as well.
27. A spray solvent may be useful to force the fluid out of hard-to-reach places inside the
extension and lower body. If fluid has cured inside one of the parts, it may be necessary
to submerge the part in solvent overnight.
28. Remove the extension from the solvent and use a cotton swab to wipe out the inner
surfaces. Use a flashlight to check for any signs of fluid in the bottom of the extension.
29. Using mini cotton swabs dipped in solvent, wipe between the grooves at the bottom of
the extension.
30. Use a Kimwipe tissue to wipe all exterior surfaces of the extension clean.
31. Remove the syringe luer lock and lower body from the solvent and wipe each with a
cotton swab or Kimwipe tissue.
32. Use mini cotton swabs dipped in solvent to clean the fluid from around the lower body
seal.
33. You may optionally use an air gun to blow excess solvent and adhesive from the fluid
paths on the extension and lower body onto a tissue.
