AV-2550 Vision System
A. AV-2550
1. The AV-2550 Pattern Recognition System (PRS) is an advanced vision system with a
choice of light sources to accommodate edge detection and fiducial detection.
2. There are three light source options available.
 Light Ring
 Dual Light
 NER diffused On-Axis Light
B. Theory of Operation
1. After the image is processed and displayed on the monitor, the programmer centers
the crosshairs on the fiducial by using the position controls in the Jog window.
2. The type of fiducial, either an edge or model, is chosen by the programmer.
3. The programmer then adjusts the light level and similar parameters using the vision
system menu.
4. The image and XY location of the fiducial are stored in the vision system memory.
5. The vision system recalls the location of the fiducial and moves the camera to an
area within the defined search area. When it finds a fiducial, it tests the image for
a match.
6. The results of the test are sent to FmNT and a message is displayed indicating
whether the fiducial was found our not.
7. The fiducial search instructions are automatically inserted into the dispensing
program.
8. During production runs, FmNT calls the vision system when a fiducial-find
instruction is encountered in the program.
C. Adjusting the AV-2550
1. The parameters that control the search characteristics, camera control and light
level are located in the vision system menus.
2. These menus are accessed through the FmNT software.
