To switch on the R&S SMB100B
The R&S SMB100B is off but connected to power. See Chapter 3.1.6, "Connecting to
power", on page 27.
1. Set the switch on the power supply to position [I] on the rear panel.
The LED of the [On/Standby] key on the front panel is orange.
2. Wait until the oven-controlled oscillator (OCXO) warms up. For the warm-up time,
see the data sheet.
3. Press the [On/Standby] key on the front panel.
The LED changes to green. The R&S SMB100B boots.
After booting, the R&S SMB100B starts up displaying the home screen on the
screen on the front panel.
To check start-up functions
When starting for the first time, the R&S SMB100B starts with the default settings.
When restarting, the R&S SMB100B recalls the instrument configuration before shut-
down.
See Chapter 9.4, "Saving and recalling instrument settings", on page 202.
When switched on, the R&S SMW automatically monitors main functions. You can
query erroneous functions. In addition to automatic monitoring, you can perform main-
tenance tasks. See the following:

To shut down the product
The product is in the ready state.
► Press the [On/Standby] key.
The operating system shuts down. The LED changes to orange.
In the standby state, the power switch circuits and the OCXO are active. To deactivate
them, disconnect the instrument from the power supply.
