3 Getting started
3.1 Preparing for use
Here, you can find basic information about setting up the product for the first time.
3.1.1 Lifting and carrying
Use the handles at the side, for lifting and carrying the R&S SMB100B, see "Lifting and
carrying the product" on page 19. Use the handles at the front, for mounting the
R&S SMB100B in a rack.

Unpacking and checking
1. Unpack the R&S SMB100B carefully.
2. Retain the original packing material. Use it to protect the control elements and con-
nectors when transporting or shipping the R&S SMB100B later.

3. Using the delivery notes, check the equipment for completeness.
4. Check the equipment for damage.
If the delivery is incomplete or equipment is damaged, contact Rohde & Schwarz.
3.1.3 Choosing the operating site
Specific operating conditions ensure proper operation and avoid damage to the prod-
uct and connected devices. For information on environmental conditions such as ambi-
ent temperature and humidity, see the data sheet.
