Appendix C. System Messages
Code Message Possible Cause Solution
257.000.00002 Instrument
initialization has
failed.
The issue could be
due to one of the
following:
l Panther System
software was
not booted
properly.
l Reagent or
Sample Racks
were loaded on
the system at
startup.
l Doors and
Drawers were
not completely
closed.
l The software
was started
before the
instrument was
ready.
1. Remove all racks
and close all doors
and drawers.
2. If necessary, shut
down the software
and ensure that the
instrument has
been powered on
for 20 seconds
before restarting the
software in the
Desktop Shield.
3. If this does not
work, shut down
and restart the
system.
4. If the problem
persists, contact
Hologic Technical
Support.
257.000.00003 Remove all racks
and close all
drawers and doors
in order to continue
initialization.
A Reagent or
Sample Rack is
loaded or a drawer
and/or door may be
open.
1. Remove racks from
the Sample and
Reagents Bays.
2. Close all drawers
and doors.
3. If the problem
persists, contact
Hologic Technical
Support.

or it is corrupted.
System software or
database error.
1. Shutdown and
restart.
2. If the problem
