Diagram Sheet 2-4-1
Dispense Head Movement
FmNT Command
y
A program command is issued to the FmNT
software.
PMAC Card
(inside of computer)
y
Receives the command from FmNT and sends it
to the Servo Interconnect PCA.
y
Constantly polls the Linear Encoder to verify XYZ
position of the Dispensing Head.
y
Polls the Hall Sensors and determines how much
current to send to the Servo Motor to achieve the
commanded movement.
Servo Interconnect PCA
y
Relays all information between the PMAC Card
and the Servo Amplifiers, Motors, Linear
Encoders, Rotary Encoders and Hall Sensors.
X, Y, or Z-Axis Servo Control Amplifier
y
Supplies power to the Servo Motor Assembly to
move the dispensing head.
y
The PMAC Card determines the amount of power
supplied to the motors.
Linear Encoder
y
Supplies positional information to the
PMAC by way of the Servo
Interconnect PCA.
y
Linear Encoders, mounted on each of
the three axes on the dispensing
head, keep track of the actual
dispensing head position. This
information is supplied on a constant
basis to the PMAC.
X, Y, or Z-Axis Servo Motor Assembly
y
Turns the cable pulley for each axis to
move the dispensing head.
Rotary Encoder
y
Built into the Servo Motors, the Rotary
Encoder supplies velocity and
acceleration information to the PMAC
by way of the Servo Interconnect
PCA.
y
It also interprets the velocity and
acceleration information coming from
the PMAC to the motors.
Hall Sensor
y
Monitors position of Servo Motors.
y
As the Servo Motors rotate to move
the dispensing head, the Hall Sensors
monitor the rotational position of the
motors to determine the number of
revolutions and the direction the motor
must travel in order to move to the
commanded position.
