Signal description
109241_en_03 PHOENIX CONTACT 31 / 232
Safe digital outputs The safe digital outputs are controlled after the incoming signals have been evaluated in ac-
cordance with the configuration.
The PSR-M-B1, PSR-M-EF8, and PSR-M-EF4 modules are equipped with two-channel
outputs. In the case of the PSR-M-EF5 and PSR-M-EF1 modules, the outputs can be pa-
rameterized as single-channel or two-channel outputs (pair).
Figure 3-1 Configuration of the outputs
with single channels (left) and double channels (right)
Configuration of the startup behavior of the safe outputs
Each output can be configured as specified in the table below:
Figure 3-2 Manual (left) and monitored (right) start of the output
WARNING: Loss of the safety function
In order to achieve PL e and SIL 3 with single-channel wiring of the outputs, you must
rule out any errors in the cable installation for the control of the actuators (left illustra-
tion). Cross-circuits in the cable installation can be prevented in the same electrical
installation space or through mechanically protected cable installation.
If it is not possible to rule out errors, use two-channel wiring of the outputs for the con-
trol of the actuators (right illustration).
Automatic
The output is only activated in accordance with the configurations speci-
fied by the PSRmodular Software if the corresponding “RESTART_FBK”
input is connected to 24 V DC via the N/C contacts of the external contac-
tors. If external contactor monitoring is not required, the “RESTART_FBK
input does not need to be supplied with 24 V DC.
Manual
The output is only activated in accordance with the configurations speci-
fied by the PSRmodular Software if there is a logic transition from 0 --> 1
at the corresponding “RESTART_FBK” input.
Monitored
The output is only activated in accordance with the configurations speci-
fied by the PSRmodular Software if there is a logic transition from 0 --> 1 -
-> 0 at the corresponding “RESTART_FBK” input.
