The list shows the available connector types with their name ("Conn. Type") and polar-
ity ("Sexless"). The remaining columns in the list are described below.
Storing connector type settings
Calibration kits and connector types are global resources; the parameters are stored
independently and available for all channel setups. The connector type settings are
always stored together with the associated calibration kit parameters. The Calibration
Kits dialog provides buttons to export and import cal kit and connector settings.
After assigning a calibration kit to a user-defined connector type, you can still change
its name, offset model and reference impedance. If you switch between sexed and
sexless, all kits assigned to the connector type are deleted.
Char. Imp.
The characteristic impedance or reference impedance ("Char. Imp.") Z
0
for the connec-
tors is a critical value that has an impact on various parameter conversions. Z
0
enters
into:
●
The calculation of the S-parameters for the calibration standards associated with
the connector type, if they are derived from a circuit model (see "View / Modify Cal
Kit Standards dialog" on page 502).
●
The calculation of the (default) reference impedances for balanced ports (see "Ref-
erence Impedance tab" on page 400).
●
The calculation of impedance and admittance parameters (see Chapter 9.3.3,
"Impedance parameters", on page 219 and Chapter 9.3.4, "Admittance parame-
ters", on page 222).
