3. Drain:
• Engine oil
a. Remove the oil filler cap “1”.
b. Remove the dipstick and extract the
engine oil using the oil changer “1”.
4. Fill:
• Recommended engine oil
a. Fill the engine with the specified
amount of
the recommended engine
oil through the oil filler hole. Install the
oil filler cap and dipstick.
Do not overfill the engine with engine oil.
Otherwise, the engine could be damaged or
oil could leak. If the engine oil is above the
upper level, extract the excess engine oil
until the oil is at the proper level.
b. Leave the outboard motor off for 5–10
minutes.
c. Remove the dipstick “1” and wipe it
clean.
d. Insert the dipstick “1” completely for a
correct mea
surement and remove it
again.
e. Check that the oil level indicated on
the
dipstick “1” is between the upper
mark “a” and the lower mark “b”.
f. Start the engine and check that the oil
pressure alert indicator does not come
on. Also, check that there
is no oil
leakage.
If the oil pressure alert indicator comes on
or if there is oil leakage, stop the engine
and find the cause. Continued operation
with a problem could cause severe engine
damage.
5. Install:
• Top cowling
Changing the engine oil by removing
the drain bolt
Change the engine oil after the first 20
hours of operation or 3 months, and every
100 hours or at 1-year intervals thereafter.
Otherwise the engine will wear quickly.
