a. Align the protrusion “a” on the stator
“1” wit
h the slot “b” in the cover assem-
bly “2”, and then assemble the starter
motor.

Checking the PTT relay
1. Measure:
• PTT relay input voltage
Out of specification Check the
wire har-
ness for continuity.
a. Remove the caps.
b. Measure the input voltage between
the PTT relay
terminal “a” and terminal
“b”.
c. Install the caps.
2. Check:
• PTT relay continuity
Out of specification Replace.
a. Disconnect the battery power source,
ground le
ad, PTT motor leads, and
PTT relay coupler.
Before disconnecting the PTT relay termi-
nals, make sure to disconnect the battery
negative terminal.
b. Remove the PTT relay.
c. Connect the special service tool “1”.
