Removing the PTT unit
When removing the PTT unit with the power
unit installed, make sure to suspend the
outboard motor.
Fully tilt the swivel bracket up, and then sup-
port it using the tilt stop lever “1”.
Bleeding the PTT unit
Before removing the reservoir cap, make
sure that the trim and tilt ram is fully ex
-
tended. Otherwise, fluid could be expelled
forcefull
y from the PTT unit due to internal
pressure.
1. Bleed:
PTT unit
a. Place the PTT unit in an upright posi-
tion.
b. Turn the manual valve “1” clockwise to
check that it is closed.
c. Remove the reservoir cap “1”, and
then check the fluid level.
If the fluid is at the proper level, a small amount
of fluid should flow out of the filler hole.
d. If the fluid is below the proper level,
add the recommended fluid.
e. Install the reservoir cap, and then
tighten it to the
specified torque.
f. Connect the battery jumper leads to
the
PTT motor lead “1” to fully retract
the trim and tilt ram.
If the trim and tilt ram does not move down eas-
ily, push on the trim and tilt ram to assist oper-
