Z-Axis control
There are four Z-Axis Stepper Motors connected together electrically. All four Z-
Axis Stepper Motors are driven by one Stepper Driver. The Stepper Driver is
controlled by a single channel on Motion Controller PCI #1. The Z-Axis is
operated in an open loop mode as shown in Figure 5-22. This requires no
feedback. The Laser Surface Map Assembly is used to verify the position of the Z-
Axis. There is a limit switch located at the upper end of its travel.
