ENERGY DATA
Energy information in the form of watt-hours and var-hours is measured and reported by the BE1-951.
Both positive and negative values are reported in three-phase, primary units. Watt-hour and var-hour
values are calculated per minute as shown in Equation 6-1.

Equation 6-1. Energy Data Equation
Watt and var values are updated every 250 milliseconds and watt-hour and var-hour values are logged
once every minute. Energy registers are stored in nonvolatile memory during every update.
Watt-hour values and var-hour values can be read, reset, or changed through the HMI or communication
ports. Watt-hour values can be accessed at the HMI through Screens 4.5.1 (positive values) and 4.5.2
(negative values). Var-hour values can be accessed at the HMI through Screens 4.5.3 (positive values)
and 4.5.4 (negative values). ASCII command RE-KWH (report energy-kilowatt-hours) gives access to
both positive and negative watt-hour values. A lagging power factor load will report positive watts and
positive vars.
RE-KWH Command
Purpose: Read, change, or reset 3-phase watt-hours in primary units (forward, reverse).
Syntax: RE-KWH=<x>
Comments: x = 0 to 1,000,000,000 (values must be entered in kilowatt-hours).
A maximum value of 1,000 Gwh is reported.
Entering RE-KWH by itself reads the 3-phase watt-hours.
RE-KWH Command Examples:
Example 1. Obtain the current watt-hour values.
>RE-KWH
RE-KWH=24.01MWH, -2720.26KWH
Example 2. Reset the positive and negative watt-hour values.
>RE-KWH=0
ASCII command RE-KVAR (report energy - kilovar-hours) gives access to both positive and negative var-
hour values.
RE-KVARH Command
Purpose: Read, change or reset 3-phase var-hours in primary units, forward and reverse.
Syntax: RE-KVAR=<x>
Comments: x = 0 to 100,000,000 (values must be entered in kilovar-hours)
A maximum value of 1,000 Gvarh is reported.
Entering RE-KVAR by itself reads the 3-phase var-hours.
RE-KVARH Command Example:
Example 1. Obtain the current var-hour values.
>RE-KVARH
13.24MVARH, -7902.18KVARH
Energy data is also available through the communication ports by using the RE (report energy) command.
This read-only command returns both the watt-hours and var-hours.
