Enable Ethernet (Enable/Disable Ethernet)
All computers on Ethernet networks share a common medium using an access
method known as Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect (CSMA/CD),
which determines when a computer is free to transmit data to the access medium.
When CSMA/CD is used, all computers monitor the transmission medium and wait
until the line is available before transmitting. Should 2 computers try to transmit
simultaneously, a collision occurs that causes the computers to stop, wait for a
random time interval, and then attempt to transmit again.
Note:
 Be very careful when modifying settings for a communication interface.
Incorrect settings can result in the printer receiving garbled, incomplete, or
extra data, causing the printer to operate poorly, print corrupted data, or
"hang" indefinitely.
 When you press Enter to accept a setting for an interface, the changes are
applied immediately. You do not need to reset or restart the printer.
The following options are available for the Ethernet Interface:
Enable/Disable Ethernet
 When the Ethernet setting is enabled, the Ethernet port is available for use.
 When the Ethernet setting is disabled, the Ethernet port is not available for
use.
