Host Protocol
Static Routing – Requires the network administrator to manually enter the
Static IP routing information including the Static IP Address, Subnet Mask, and
Gateway Address.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) – Enables computers to
receive TCP/IP configurations automatically. The DHCP IP address can be
stored only. It cannot be changed.
BootP (Boot Prom) – The BootP Protocol, which starts as the computer is
powered on, loads an operating system into the computer by reading it from a
network server instead of a local disk drive. The operating system located on
the server is pre-built for a specific IP address.
