The following table identifies the values required for many of these commands. Other input values are
discussed with the corresponding commands.
16.3.1 MAC Address Setting Commands
This table lists the commands you can use to set the MAC address of an interface. On some Zyxel Device
models, these commands only apply to a WAN or OPT interface.
16.3.2 Port Grouping Commands
This section covers commands that are specific to port grouping.
Note: In CLI, representative interfaces are also called representative ports.
Table 61 Input Values for Ethernet Interface Commands
LABEL DESCRIPTION
interface_name
The name of the Ethernet interface. This depends on the Zyxel Device model.
For some Zyxel Device models, use gex, x = 1~N, where N equals the highest numbered
Ethernet interface for your Zyxel Device model.
For other Zyxel Device models use a name such as wan1, wan2, opt, lan1, ext-wlan, or
dmz.

COMMAND DESCRIPTION
interface
interface_name
Enters sub-command mode.
no mac
Has the interface use its default MAC address.
mac mac
Specifies the MAC address the interface is to use.
type {internal |
external |
general}
Sets which type of network you will connect this interface. The Zyxel Device
automatically adds default route and SNAT settings for traffic it routes from internal
interfaces to external interfaces; for example LAN to WAN traffic.
internal: Set this to connect to a local network. Other corresponding
configuration options: DHCP server and DHCP relay. The Zyxel Device
automatically adds default SNAT settings for traffic flowing from this interface to
an external interface.
external: Set this to connect to an external network (like the Internet). The
Zyxel
Device
automatically adds this interface to the default WAN trunk.
general: Set this if you want to manually configure a policy route to add routing
and SNAT settings for the interface.

mac
Has the interface use its default MAC address.
use-defined-mac
Has the interface use a MAC address that you specify.

COMMAND DESCRIPTION
show port-grouping
Displays which physical ports are assigned to each representative
interface.
port status Port<1..x>
Enters a sub-command mode to configure the specified port’s settings.
