Chapter 22 Virtual Servers
ZyWALL Series CLI Reference Guide
202
load-balance-
algorithm
{rr|wrr|lc|sh}
Sets the load balancing algorithm for this rule. For information about each algorithm,
see Section 22.3.5 on page 200.
rr: Round-Robin
wrr: Weighted Round-Robin
lc: Least-Connection
sh: Source Hashing
persistence
timeout 1-86400
Sets how long a client/server session with no activity stays open. Timeout is measured
in seconds, and the default value is 360.
Multiple requests from a client within a short time period are directed to the same
real server, as part of a persistent client/server session.
If there are no incoming requests from a client within the specified timeout period,
then the persistent client/server session is closed. Further requests from the client
might be assigned to a different real server, determined by the load balancing
algorithm.
persistence
granularity
netmask
Sets the scope of persistent sessions. The default netmask is 255.255.255.255.
By default, the Zyxel Device creates persistent sessions between one client and one
server.
You can set a netmask to allow a range of clients to open a persistent session with a
real server. For example, setting a netmask of 255.255.255.0 means all requests from
clients on the subnet 192.168.1.x get directed to the same real server within the
timeout period.
real-server
address mapped-
port port weight
weight [hash
hash]
Adds a real server to the load balancing rule.
Note: The real server must offer the service specified when running the
command virtual-service interface.
address
: IPv4 address of a server on the LAN.
port: The port on the server that connection requests are forwarded to.
weight: For algorithm Weighted Round Robin, weight represents the processing
power of this server compared to other servers. A server with a weight of 2 is
considered to be able to handle two times more connection requests than a server
with a weight of 1.
For algorithm Source Hashing, servers are mapped to source IP addresses in a hash
table proportionally based on the server’s weights.
hash: An MD5 checksum of the webpage specified by
http path url. The Zyxel
Device uses this checksum to verify that each HTTP health check request returns the
correct webpage, and not an error page.
no real-server
address
Removes the real server from the set of servers managed by this rule.
[no] health-
check activate
Enables or disables server health checks for this rule.
When enabled, the Zyxel Device periodically sends a request to each real server.
This request ensures that the server is available, and optionally ensures that a specific
service on the server is running.
