Fan And Filter Cleaning (Electronics Bay)
To inspect all cooling fans for proper operation, proceed as follows:
1. Locate the following fan and filter assemblies as shown in Figure 10-7.
• Top of the Electronics Bay
• Rear of the X-ray Scan Controller
• Low Voltage Power Supply
• Rear of the System Controller and Expansion Chassis (Power Supply Fans)
2. Use the following procedures to inspect and clean each of the fan and filter
assemblies identified in Step 1.
a. Open the filter access panels or remove the equipment chassis cover to
access the fan and filter assemblies for inspection and cleaning.
b. Clean the filter (as applicable) by using a vacuum cleaner from the inside
out. If the filter is too dirty to be cleaned with the vacuum cleaner, then wash
the filter element in hot water and a mild detergent. Dry the filter before
reinstalling.
c. As accessible, wipe-down and vacuum out any dust or debris from the fan
ventilation port.
d. Reinstall the clean filter (as applicable) and secure unit chassis covers.
e. Repeat this procedure for each of the units containing filters and/or fans.
