Adjustment Adjustment/Special Operations Methods 190
5.2 Adjustment/Special Operations Methods
This section explains about special operations and its execution steps as shown in the
content of Table 5-1.
5.2.1 Head Rank Input
In order to ensure optimum print quality, this printer evaluates the characteristics of
each printhead, specifies a printhead ID for each printhead and registers these in
designated NVRAM addresses on the C362DRV Board so that irregularities in print
quality due to printhead characteristics is eliminated. When a printhead or C362DRV
Board is replaced, it is necessary to match the printhead ID with the information
registered in NVRAM.
5.2.2 Parameter Backup
"Parameter Information" is registered in NVRAM (Flash-ROM and EEPROM)
mounted on the printer C362DRV Board. The parameters consist of "Panel Setting
Values," "C362DRV Board Trait Adjustment Values (Cannot Delete/Change)" and
"Mechanism Adjustment Values."
When performing operations involving C362DRV Board replacement during
servicing, back up the parameters registered in the existing C362DRV Board and write
them to the new C362DRV Board so that the information will match the existing
printer mechanisms and several adjustment steps can be omitted. To do this, prepare
the necessary equipment shown below and plan for efficient operations. The
operational procedures are described in the following sections.

If you can backup the parameters correctly, replace the main
board and upload the parameters into the new board. A part of the
adjustment that used self-diagnostic function becomes
unnecessary. In this case, take the next procedure.
1. Back up the parameters as described in 5.2.2 "Parameter
Backup".
2. Replace the C362Main board as described in chapter 4.
3. Down load the parameters as described in 5.2.2 "Parameter
Backup".
4. Upload the firmware as described in 5.2.3 "Firmware
Download".
5. Perform the paper-related sensor adjustment. (Refer to 5.3
"Mechanism Adjustment")
