1.6.4 User Paper Setup Menu Items
Utilization of this mode enables user defined paper to be used by registering optimum
values through thickness detection pattern printing and output pattern results for the
paper thickness chosen by the user. Up to 4 patterns can be registered for user defined
paper, and ink drying times and vacuum suction power to match the paper can be
registered for each defined paper type. The setting method is shown below.
1. Enter the User Paper Setting Mode at the panel.
2. Select the paper. (When selecting "STD," skip to Step 5. When selecting "1" ~ "4,"
go to Step 3.
3. Print the paper thickness detection pattern. (See Figure 1-10)
4. Visually check the printed pattern and select the pattern number that gives the
smallest possible gap.
5. Input the ink drying time.
6. Select the suction power (NORM/LOW).

NOTE: (*1) When Standard paper is selected, the items of paper thickness
detection pattern print and paper thickness selected number are not
displayed. Only when paper 1~4 are selected, they are displayed.
NOTE: (*2) It displays "PAT. PRINTING" during printing pattern.
NOTE: (*3) The default display for the paper thickness number is the number
used with the paper thickness for which the gap was adjusted.
NOTE: (*4) The "SUCTION = LOW" setting executes printing at a lower
vacuum suction power. Set this when printing extremely thin media (such
as film) so that the printing will not stick to the platen as it would if
normal suction were used.

Paper thickness follows the paper thickness setting command (PH
command). When the paper setting command is not sent, the printer default
value is used. When the setting for ink drying time is other than standard (0
seconds), the drying time set by the user is used.
