8.1 Basic information
Base units are supplied with four hot-plug fan modules (1 CPU configuration) or
eight hot-plug fan modules (2 CPU configuration).
Base units with four fan modules operate in a 1 of 4 redundancy, base units with
eight fan modules operate in a 1 of 8 redundancy. In other words, if one of the
four or eight fan modules fails, the system will operate without any problem. The
failed fan module can be exchanged without shutting down the server (hot-
plug).
V CAUTION!
Depending on the CPU type and heat sink type, different fan types are
necessary!
Ê Please check, if you ordered the correct fans, see figure 106.
I Fan type A3C40201803 is a single rotor fan, fan type A3C40201802 is a
dual rotor fan. In the system information (Chassis
ID EPROM) the terms
"Single Fan" and "Dual Fan" are used in system names.
