6.4 PROFILE VIEW TERRAIN
The system provides a Profile View of terrain and obstacles relative to the aircraft’s current flight path and
altitude on the Navigation Map Pane. Profile View does not provide terrain or obstacle caution or warning
annunciations or voice alerts, nor does it display potential impact points inside this view.
Enabling/Disabling Profile View Inset Window:
NOTE: The Profile View Inset Window cannot be shown with the Flight Plan Text Inset Window in the same
display pane. Selecting either window will remove the other.
1) From Home, touch Map > Map Settings.
2) If necessary, touch the Inset Window Tab.
3) Touch the Profile View Button to enable/disable the Profile View Inset Window.
Enabling/Disabling Terrain information in the Profile View Inset Window:
1) From Home, touch Map > Map Settings.
2) If necessary, touch the Sensor Tab.
3) Touch the Relative Terrain Button. The system shows relative terrain information in the Profile View Inset
Window and on the selected Navigation Map Pane.
PROFILE VIEW DISPLAY
When the Profile View is enabled, it is displayed in a window below the Navigation Map in an Inset Window.
Altitude is shown along a vertical scale, with an aircraft icon positioned at the current altitude. Distance is
represented horizontally along the bottom of the Profile View, and increases from left (present position) to right.
When the Navigation Map pane range is adjusted with the Joystick, the horizontal distance of the Profile View
is adjusted proportionately to be 1/2 of the Navigation Map range distance down to 1 nm, at which point Profile
View is no longer available (‘PROFILE NOT AVAILABLE’ is displayed). When Navigation Map Pane range is
adjusted to remove altitude-correlated colored terrain data (as shown in the Terrain Legend) or obstacles from
the Navigation Map, these items are also removed from the Profile View; only an outline of the terrain will be
displayed in black in the Profile View window. Refer to the Terrain SVS or TAWS section for more information
about displaying terrain or obstacles on the Navigation Map Pane.
