3-5-1 Connecting Printers
3-5-1-1 Printer Connection and Configuration - Overview
NOTE: Before connecting a printer to the Vivid S5 N/ Vivid S6 N scanner, refer to the ‘Safety and
Environmental Guidelines” on page 1-12.
NOTE: Printers should be connected to the Vivid S5 N/ Vivid S6 N scanner using the USB Isolation Unit
(P/N 5459394).
This section provides information common to all printers approved for use with the Vivid S5 N/ Vivid S6 N
ultrasound scanner, as follows:
• Printer Categories and Outline of Procedure Instructions, below.
• ‘Configuring Printing Buttons P1 and P2” on page 3-27.
• ‘Setting Printing Orientation (Portrait or Landscape) and Paper Size” on page 3-33.

NOTE: The printers approved for use with the Vivid S5 N/ Vivid S6 N system are categorized in Table 3-7
below. Refer to the appropriate instructions for connecting a specific printer, as applicable.
3-5-1-1-2 Configuring Printing Buttons P1 and P2
Buttons P1 and P2 on the Vivid™ S5 N and Vivid™ S6 N operator console are used to activate the
printer directly from the console, as follows:
• Button P1 should be specifically configured independently to activate the Windows default printer.
By default, button P1 is designated to activate the Windows default printer. The printer that is
associated with the P1 button should be defined as the default printer via the Windows screens.
• Button P2 should be separately configured to activate a second printer.
WHEN CONNECTING PRINTERS TO THE VIVID S5 N/ VIVID S6 N SYSTEM, ONLY
MULTIPLE-SOCKET OUTLETS PROVIDED WITH THE SYSTEM ARE TO BE USED FOR
SUPPLYING POWER TO EQUIPMENT INTENDED TO FORM PART OF THE SYSTEM.
