PRELIMINARY
3-5-2 Connecting Peripherals
NOTE: Before connecting a peripheral to the Vivid S5 N/ Vivid S6 N scanner, refer to the ‘Safety and
Environmental Guidelines” on page 1-12.
NOTE: All peripherals mounted on the Vivid S5 N or Vivid S6 N system must be firmly secured in position using
the securing straps supplied with the scanner. These straps are fastened through the dedicated holes
located on each side of the rear tray and serve to hold the peripheral firmly in place.
3-5-2-1 Wireless Network Adaptor
The Wireless Network adaptor should be connected to the lower USB socket on the Vivid S5 N or
Vivid S6 N rear connectors panel.
One can connect the Wireless Network adaptor either once the system is powered ON, or after
shutdown. All software drivers for the Wireless Network are pre-installed for the designated
Wireless Network adaptor only. Follow the procedure described in the ‘Wireless Network
Configuration” on page 3-105.
WARNINGWARNING
WHEN CONNECTING PERIPHERALS TO THE Vivid S5 N / Vivid S6 N SYSTEM, ONLY
MULTIPLE-SOCKET OUTLETS PROVIDED WITH THE SYSTEM ARE TO BE USED FOR
SUPPLYING POWER TO EQUIPMENT INTENDED TO FORM PART OF THE SYSTEM.
NOTICE
IMPORTANT During Stand-by mode, it is NOT recommended to introduce or remove USB
devices; this may cause the system to lock-up during the boot-up procedure.
WARNINGWARNING
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTOR.
THE ULTRASOUND SYSTEM IS AN EXTREMELY SENSITIVE AND COMPLEX MEDICAL
SYSTEM. ANY UNAUTHORIZED PERIPHERALS MAY CAUSE SYSTEM FAILURE OR
DAMAGE!
