PRELIMINARY
8-6-16 AC Distribution Box (Type A-to-Type B) Replacement Procedure
NOTE: The AC Distribution Box Type-A supports two ranges of AC power input: 100V-120V or 220V-240V.
The AC Distribution Box Type-B is a lightweight unit, supporting AC power input of 1OOV - 240V.
The Type-B unit has the following features.
• Since it automatically supports a power range of 1OOV - 240V, it is not supplied with jumpers
(to alter the input power).
• It does not support peripheral power outlets.
• It is fitted with an On/Off power switch
(unlike a Type-A unit that has a circuit breaker switch).
In place of a circuit breaker switch, the Type-B unit is fitted with two fuses:
• The unit does not contain a fan.
NOTE: The procedure below applies to replacement of an old-type AC Distribution Box Type-A with a new-type
AC Distribution Box Type-B. In this scenario, the following information is applicable:
1.) Required Use of USB Isolator
If an approved peripheral was previously connected to a Vivid S5 N / Vivid S6 N system that was
fitted with an AC Distribution Box Type-A, after the installation of a Type-B AC Distribution Box, any
approved non-medical-grade peripherals should be connected to an external power supply.
In addition, these peripherals must be connected to the USB port on the system using a USB
isolator (P/N 5459394) as shown in Figure 8-226.
2.) Blanking AC Outlet Ports on Left Rear Cover
It is necessary to blank the two AC Outlet ports (previously used for connection of peripherals) on
the Vivid S5 N / Vivid S6 N Left Rear Cover, using the plastic AC Outlet Cover (P/N 5446701) which
is supplied in the AC Distribution Box Kit. In addition, a plain white label is used to cover the power
details (Max. 250VA Total), now no longer relevant - see Figure 8-227.
