8-4-12 Alphanumeric Keycap Replacement Procedure
8-4-12-1 Tools
Use the appropriate flat screwdriver, as indicated in the keycap replacement procedure.
8-4-12-2 Preparation
None
8-4-12-3 Alphanumeric Keycap Removal Procedure
1) Carefully place a small flat screwdriver between the keycap you wish to remove and its neighboring
keycap.
2) Use the screwdriver to gently lever off the defective keycap, until it is completely loosened from its
base (see Figure 8-103 below).
3.) Lift off and remove the defective keycap.
8-4-12-4 Alphanumeric Keycap Installation Procedure
1) Carefully place the appropriate new keycap in position on the keyboard, taking care to place the
plastic alignment pin in the correct position so that the keycap is the right way up and reads
correctly.
2) Gently push the keycap down until it snaps into position.
3.) Proceed to perform the following functionality tests:
- “Alphanumeric Keyboard Test” on page 4-18
- “USB Test” on page 4-37
