5. Position new guard (A), hold-down (C), and the plastic
wearplate (if applicable) onto the cutterbar. Secure with
two nuts (B) and bolts, but do NOT tighten.
6. Check and adjust the clearance between the
hold-downs and the knife. Refer to Checking Pointed
Guard Hold-Downs, page 447.
Replacing center guard
NOTE:
The guard at the center of a double-knife header (where the two knives overlap) requires a slightly different
replacement procedure.

1. Shut down the combine, and remove the key from the
ignition.
2. Remove the two nuts (B) and bolts attaching guard (A)
and top guide (C) to the cutterbar.
3. Remove guard (A), the plastic wearplate (if installed),
top guide (C), and adjuster bar (D).
