Pathway Technical Reference Manual
Proprietary 174 of 190
7.2. Recommended test run for ATS Thermode: Ramp and Hold program starting from a
baseline of 32°C to a destination of 45°C with destination rate of 4 °C/sec. Duration of
5 sec, Inter-Stimulus Interval of 5-10 sec, 50 trials.
8. Repeat 7 for all available Thermodes including any spare Thermodes not currently
connected. Make sure to turn PATHWAY OFF before replacing the Thermodes.
Replace Thermodes only when the Pathway system is turned OFF!
Remember to change calibration tables prior switching to different ATS
Thermode type (30x30mm, 16x16mm, etc.).
Storing the PATHWAY systems for long periods of time (over a month):
If the system is planned to go into storage for a long period of time perform the following
procedure:
1. Turn OFF the PATHWAY system through the main switch.
2. Disconnect the PATHWAY system from the main inlet and outlet.
3. Drain the coolant the system (refer to the Service Manual for instructions).
4. Disconnect all accessories from the PATHWAY system, and store them in a dry place.
5. Disconnect all Thermodes from the PATHWAY system, cover the Thermode heads with soft
cloth and store in a dark dry place.
22.4 Thermode Calibration
A periodical Thermode Calibration is necessary for the PATHWAY system performance.
Thermodes should be calibrated at least once every 6 months. Refer to the Thermode
Calibration section in Pathway Service Manual.
22.5 Cooling Unit Maintenance
Periodical cooling unit maintenance is required in order to achieve optimal cooling power.
Maintenance should be performed once every 6 months and includes:
1. Cleaning the air filters
2. Filtering the coolant and removing any residue
Refer to the Cooling Unit Maintenance section in Pathway Service Manual for detailed
instructions.
22.6 Ground Conductivity Test (for fMRI system only)
The procedure should be performed after system installation in the MRI room, after the EMI
filter is installed, and at least once a year periodically.
To perform the Ground Conductivity Test:
Using an Ohm meter, measure resistance between the ground pin of the power cord, fMRI
filter body and ground pin of fMRI penetration panel. The measured resistance must be less
than 0.150 Ohm.
22.7 Periodical Thermode Maintenance
Medoc recommends sending all Thermodes for factory maintenance at least once every 2 years
(more often if Thermodes are being used extensively).
