5. Operation
The purpose of the following chapters is to specify the PATHWAY applications and to bring in-
detail step-by-step instructions for using the system.
This chapter specifies PATHWAY behavior at start up, and MEDOC Main Station basic
components.
5.1 Safety Procedures and System Self-Test
Upon start-up the system performs a self-test in which system sensors are being tested. If a
malfunction is detected, an appropriate message is displayed and the system cannot operate
until that malfunction is resolved.
Make sure that Thermodes are not attached to a human subject before self-
test is complete.
Before turning on the PATHWAY system, make sure that the Thermode main
plugs and water connecters are securely connected to the PATHWAY
system.
The Thermode should be attached to the subject’s skin only when
performing a test. Do not attach the Thermode to the subject during system
Self-Test, while programming the system or performing maintenance.
Do NOT Connect the PATHWAY computer to a network while performing
tests with the system!
It is not allowed to connect the PATHWAY computer to a network while
running tests with the system!
5.2 Starting PATHWAY
Make sure that all the Thermodes licensed for your PATHWAY system are
connected and the Electronic Box power switch is turned ON, before you
power up the system Main Switch.
Failure to follow this instruction will result in damage to the External
Cooling Unit.
1. Turn ON the PATHWAY unit, by using the main power switch located in the trolley front
panel. See Figure 9, page 38.
2. Turn ON the computer
3. Start Medoc Main Station software by double-clicking the icon
4. The Home screen is displayed showing the available devices (license dependent).
