9.6.1 Identifying SpO
2
Modules
To identify which SpO
2
module you are using, see the company logo on the SpO
2
mod-
ule.
â–  Masimo SpO
2
module: purple, with a logo of Masimo SET.
â–  Nellcor SpO
2
module: grey, with a logo of Nellcor.
9.6.2 Applying the Sensor
1. Select an appropriate sensor according to the module type, patient size, and
weight.
2. Remove colored nail polish from the application site.
3. Apply the sensor to the patient.
4. Connect the sensor to the SpO
2
module and the SpO
2
module to the TM80.
The SpO
2
measurement displays when the TM80 detects that a sensor is con-
nected to the patient.
WARNING
• When equipped with Masimo SpO
2
module, use only Masimo SpO
2
sen-
sors specified in this manual. Use of other SpO
2
sensors may cause
improper oximeter performance.
• When equipped with Nellcor SpO
2
module, use only Nellcor SpO
2
sen-
sors specified in this manual. Use of other SpO
2
sensors may cause
improper oximeter performance.
• If the sensor is too tight because the application site is too large or
becomes too large due to edema, excessive pressure for prolonged peri-
ods may result in venous congestion distal from the application site,
leading to interstitial edema and tissue ischemia.
