A-1 Smoothing Capacitor Life Curve
The following graph shows the relationship between the ambient temperature and the life expectancy of
the smoothing capacitor that is built into the inverter.
Additional Information
“Ambient temperature” refers to the temperature measured at a distance of approximately 5
cm from the bottom center of the inverter (atmospheric temperature). It refers to an interior
temperature if the inverter is stored in a cabinet.
The smoothing capacitor has a limited life because it is subjected to chemical reaction inside
the part and, as a guide, needs to be replaced once a decade approximately. However, this
period is an expected design life, and not the guaranteed value.
Remember that, if the inverter is used at a high ambient temperature or in a heavy loaded
environment, such as at the over-rated current, its life will be significantly shortened.
